Always worth it…

Well, I guess you could say this house has been under the weather over the past couple of weeks.  Gabe started off with some flu-like symptoms that kept him home over the course of a week.  Well, during that week I was scheduled to have my wisdom teeth removed…lots of fun. ;)  After that, the week ended with Claire getting what Gabe had which put her out for about 5 days, as well.  So, there you have it…my lack of posting.  Thankfully, I am healing nicely and the kids are back to normal.  We are happy to be back in the swing of things.

I really missed taking photos of the kids during this time.  I realize that being under the influence of a narcotic means that I should stay away from most everything. ;)  However, there were numerous times where I wanted to grab a quick photo here and there to document our lives.  I refrained, but did manage to keep a few photos in the mix.  Hopefully, I will be able to get back in the swing of things…sooner rather than later.

I found a free Valentine template online for bookmarks.  So, we personalized these a bit this year.  I had several ideas in mind, but (again) since I was still out of commission I refrained.  Next year, we will tackle Valentine’s Day parties with a vengeance.;)

And, for sweet Claire.  Yep, this is about how Gabe looked while he was sick.  Lethargic, no appetite, fever…misery.  We had a lot of movie time during those days.  The part that continues to make me smile is the fact that Claire still managed to find her old Christmas dress from a year ago…and wanted to wear it.  I think that consumed all of her energy because soon after putting it on she was back to this.

I have appreciated hearing back from so many of you regarding the photo-a-day challenge.  One of the reasons I started this blog was to share from my heart in hopes that I would be able to influence/encourage other moms out there.  Whether it be in regards to learning about your camera or sharing words from the heart about being a mom.  I’ve always wondered if I’m doing this more for me (therapy);)or if this is useful for other moms out there.  Well, the email I received from Sarah regarding the Photo-A-Day challenge made me realize that the time I am giving towards this blog is not only encouraging me, but also encouraging others.

“I’m SO glad that I did this. It has been so much fun to look back through the pictures. Also, we have family scattered around, so they have told us that they have loved looking at the pictures of our girls each day. My grandparents went to FL for the winter and have missed our girls terribly. I think this meant as much to them as it did to me.:)The hardest part seemed to be having the discipline to get it done each day….preferably when the sunshine was streaming in through the windows and I didn’t have to worry about having enough light.:)I struggle with the flash.:)The girls seemed to get tired of me constantly having the camera in their face, so I need to do a better job of just capturing moments as they happen and not constantly asking them to look at the camera.:)

Taking the time to do this has really made me reflect on how quickly time passes and what treasures these sweet blessings are that God has entrusted to us. I am quite often overwhelmed by the task of raising them to love and honor the Lord. Capturing these moments with them reminded me daily of the joys that come with the responsibility and really challenged me to make the most of every precious moment I have with them.”

Thank you so much for sharing, Sarah.  You truly made my day!  Have a wonderful weekend, friends. xo!
